38 and fit, 40 and fat

The difference just a few years makes. Literally just before the pandemic my life was peak. I was happy to look in the mirror, my bank account was decent and my social life was what I always wanted it to be. I look old and tired now and I have been at the gym twice as long as it has ever taken to shed some tubby and it's not going anywhere. I make more due to pandemic raises but my life seems poorer and more out of reach. Everything changes fast in your 40's.

Could all of our shared challenges these dayZ be more than:

the Covid/Climate crisis? Could it be energy frequency changes in the big picture ie. Earths magnetic pole shifts, or solar energy changes, or Galactic changes. The Veda records of ancient India speak about 12,000 year Galactic cycles. Oh well ! Its beyond me so I'll just do my best to stay positive, loving help others as much as possible; and trust that this is just a stage of life and alls well in the big picture.

You are reaching the state where you no longer as fit and well automatically, and you obviously haven't figured this out as you have allowed yourself to degenerate.

This happens to everyone around your age.

If you have the strength of character to stop stuffing your face, and go out and do stuff, you have real hope. Otherwise, prepare for another couple of decades of looking and generally being a washed up old fart.

Many of us are in different shape (physically, socially, financially, materially) than we were two years ago. The good news is, there is more to life than abs!

When there is so much stasis and uncertainty all around we need some time to adjust and find balance. Please know you are in good company in trying to find routines that suit the current realities and help us to define "ourselves 2.0."

Take care and take it easy!

In comparison to others, no big deal.

Here's what you do: learn to love your body so you workout to feel better and not to lose weight. Be kind to yourself. Until then, get naked and shake your body around, love it, thank it for all the shit it gets you through with no thanks every day, tell yourself one thing you love about it every day, share it with someone to make them feel good, make yourself feel good. You got one life and one body to live it in. You can still love it a bit squishy. Be kind to yourself after the last two hard years.

Not age.

Bad couple of years. 40 is way too young to be feeling done in, but a lot of people are in that state right now. It might sound trite, but I went out and got a hair cut. It helped. I let it go right through the COVID scene. Things can change quickly in another direction, just as fast as they slid downhill.

Hope awaits with greater ease than you realize

Good news is that we learned metabolism doesn't drop until you're 60. What changed is well within your control. When we were younger, we'd eat then run around after. This activity burned the fat. As we get older we sit after eating, so that food converts to fat and builds up. The best and easiest way to work off stomach fat is walking. So...after every meal, walk in one direction for 15 minutes, then walk back home. As long as you do at least that after every meal, you will see results over time. Yes, it's that easy.

Forget the gym….

….everything you need is outdoors. Join a team, ride a bike, make mare’s shank part of your daily lifestyle.

Maintenance

Oct 8, 2021 at 4:59am

I am 47 and this started happening to me and my friends around age 40 too. I quickly figured out that it is easier to lose 5 pounds than it is to lose 25 pounds. As soon as I feel that tightness on the 3rd belt-loop, I move a bit more and eat a bit less until I get back to my good weight. I have watched a few friends slowly balloon over the past 10 yrs and now they are truly obese. These are people who used to dance all night at clubs and now have sore knees and bad backs. It really pays to maintain as you age.
