A much younger woman likes to spend a lot of time with me

In the past few months, a much younger woman, much younger, has spent a lot of time with me. She initiated the contact, although I knew her many years ago, when she was an adolescent. Typically, we eat at a restaurant with friends of mine. She is a very attractive, highly educated professional who doesn't need my assets, if I had any. If I don't invite her, she invites me. But, there has been no physical intimacy. I don't want to hurt her feelings, or make a fool of myself, but I wonder if we are just friends.

For f's sake, people need to realize that social connection is important. Most people do not have social bubble's more than they can count on one hand. Everything you said, relationship wise, is a freaking red flag for yourself. Suck it up, be a normal person and learn that you can be friends with the opposite sex full stop.

You're just friends.
Are you old enough to have fathered her (14+ years) and is her father not in her life (or just not a good guy)? Then you're a dad sub.

You knew her when she was an adolescent? You are friends
Furthermore: You are friends
In conclusion: You are friends

When she invites, she pays. When I invite, I pay. She doesn't need my money, but she wants my company every week. Friends who have dinner with us tell me she is interested. If I was age appropriate, I would have no doubts.

I understand your concerns in this type of situation. I suggest open communications and bring up the subject. At some point you have to bring it up to find out. I know it can be awkward but it can also be done in a tasteful and polite way. Such that if she says no, you can still continue to be friends.

The creep factor: take your age, divide it by two and add seven = the youngest someone can be in a relationship with you before it becomes socially creepy.
Fine line between realistic and being ageist, so know the difference.

I agree.
As in another post- are Madonna, and all those older actresses dating guys less than half their age creepy as well?

As a former cutey who had a less than average dad, I often liked having older men around for guidance and because boys my age were often too dumb or too horny. When they started to think it could be them it was such a groaner. I remember inviting one friend to dinner and he said 'you know i'm a monk and can't be alone in a room with a woman' and i'm like uhhhhhhhhhhhhhh you could be a beanbag for all i think of your sexuality. i just liked talking about philosophy with him. yuck!
