What drives me crazy about these people is that they eat meat. What do they think is wreaking havoc on the environment??? Please educate yourselves people!

I...

... had progressively worsening Health from basically 19 years old until 24 years old. I was eating essentially a vegetarian diet where I took a multivitamin has sort of an insurance policy. I had eczema over a large part of my body and I had very little exercise tolerance and I was pretty weak. I was also losing my hair. So at about 25 I decided that I would tried something different. I started lifting weights and realized that that meant I had to eat a certain way in order to not feel like garbage. I'm not saying there aren't vegan people who lift weights I'm just saying that in my case once I started eating about a pound to 2 lb of red meat and two or four eggs a day my Eczema cleared up and my exercise tolerance improved and I felt really good. Oh also during this whole. I had high blood pressure. That also cleared up. Might I have been able to eat a certain vegetarian diet and be healthy? Maybe but maybe not. So this is actually something that comes up in some of the environmental protest to the pipelines. You often have indigenous Elders involved and then you have a twenty-something white people trying to lecture them about how they shouldn't eat meat. No I don't know how much background is involved but one side of my family is indigenous. Maybe we evolved eating lots of meat we weren't really Farmers on that side of the family. On the other side we were farmers but on the indigenous side we were indigenous and then sort of Trappers in mixed families in Quebec. So it's always going to be a matter of what you're involved for that's what evolutionary theory is all about. But ultimately the problem is too many people. Indigenous societies had pretty hard resource limits on the number of people they could have. Overpopulation wasn't a big problem. Overpopulation is a problem in agrarian societies where you produce people who are often anemic.

I eat meat and I couldn't care less about climate change.

Climate change is driven primarily by a worldwide construction mania.

Enjoy eating insects.

good point

No doubt about it, meat is a big driver of global warming. Aren't the big three having kids, eating meat and driving a car? I kind of heave when I think of how many families there are, at any given time, drivin' everywhere, barbecuin' like there's no tomorrow, living in a big ol' house that eats of gobs of heat, and electricity for laundering and TV watching and goofy stupid stuff like Christmas lights and other doodads of the modern age. Depressing AF it is.

some do, some don't. it's a venn diagram, not black and white. you aren't wrong about meat consumption and carbon footprint though...but it doesn't matter much, in a decade or two all us plebs will be eating lab meats (whether we like it or not).

Expect a lot of down votes as most people refuse to acknowledge the numerous studies and reports backing up your comment.

All of them? You know all those protestors personally? Just 100 companies are responsible for 71% of global emissions globally or extract, collect, crack, refine, and distribute hydrocarbons. Those protestors are there to remind everyone to vote for a leadership that will hold those companies accountable. We are in a climate crisis, as you know.

Guilt tripping parents doesn't work well either... It's such a challenge trying get people to do the right thing without making them feel like they're doing as they are told. Personally I think a lot of adults need to grow up!

Though I do believe in veganism ( I am not unfortunately ), this sounds like more of a protest convenient to a lifestyle. Would it be fair to assume you have a car? Or use taxis or ubers? Be careful when making bold righteous statements... people are horrible for taking responsibility for their own actions when pointing fingers. But good luck on the "good fight".

You bitch about people not doing research.
Yet if you had done any- only 10% of greenhouse gasses come from agriculture, of which 35% of that comes from animal production... or about 3.5% of the total gasses produced.
And- soil management for crops etc produces about 5%.

Can you please just STOP. The constant yammering from the sector of vegan and vegetarian groups that are complete zealots is so tedious. The fact is that humans are omnivores. Get. Over. It.
