Labour shortage my bum

I've applied for at least 30 jobs in the past 30 days, all entry level and not a single interview. Yes I applied for the 50,000 per year dishwashing position. Even serving positions and they won't even call me for an interview. I don't have serving experience but I do have experience in other fields. Tempted to apply to Amazon next. They are always screaming for people.

Before you apply to Amazon, there was a report by Mark Kelley on CBC's "The Fifth Estate" that aired within the last week or so. According to that report, Amazon drives employees extremely hard, leaving some with serious injuries, and then tries hard to dissuade them from applying for WCB. There's a reason why Amazon is "always screaming for people".

Hang in there, I know it’s tough looking for work. I’ve applied to about the same (30 places) and have gotten 3 interviews only. I can see that upwards of 100-250 people are applying for each job, so competition is high. May I suggest you try any of the following: Canada list, Purolator, FedEx… they’re going to need seasonal extra help very soon. I’ve re-written some of my cover letters showing more enthusiasm and personality, and that seems to have increased people looking at my LinkedIn profile. Don’t give up, you WILL get hired, it just takes time. Keep plugging away and experiment with tweaking your cover letters and keywords of your resumes to match each job description to get past the ATS robot.

Don't rely on "responsible, dependable" etc., That's all good but to break through the other resumes, you need to solve a problem for them beyond getting people. Put "100% flexible to any shift pattern and available on short term notice" right up front on your resume (if this is actually true for you). Up front then, you are saying that you walking Tylenol. You are the go-to person to reduce their biggest headache - people who call in sick or who flake with no notice, leaving them scrambling to cover shifts. Be the solution.

Literally no one should be expected to offer that ever. Employees are people too.

Just work in construction. Walk to any bigger site say you need work you don't know shit but can handle a broom. Bam you have a job. Keep going to work and you'll have a career. Seriously vancouver is booming and construction people are hiring like crazy. Or go to a place like best personal. Work temp work hard at the places they send you and most likely you'll get hired full time. They pay daily if your broke or you can work a week or two and cash in. Amazon pays kinda low when compared to construction. You just need good rain gear. If your a woman no problem tons of lady's working in the industry. Some make the guys on site look lazy lol. Seriously all you have to do is ask at a site and if they don't have ask them if they know a guy looking for starters. Try really big sites because they are always in need and they can point you in the right direction if they don't.

Depending on your age and experience going online to find work isn't always a good solution. If you have years of experience then yes online will be great. But don't have any or very little because your young etc just do like I said. Go talk to people or do temp work. Temp agency's are not ideal but anyone that is half reliable usually land real jobs working for them in a few weeks while making money. Temp agencies have diverse work also so if one field isn't your thing try another. Pretty sure the employers have automated bots to sort out the vast amounts of applications they get so that's why they never reply. I've been there before keep your head up
