The one things I am most thankful for.

That there was no internet while I was growing up. Graduated in the late 1990's. There wasn't social media until I was 30.

There's a giant down-side to the anti-Social Media

Not that long ago all of our great grandparents lived in village and communicated one on one directly. Nowadays there are the forces of 'cultural entropy' dividing and conquering us. Suggest you net-search the word entropy ... a word from the science of physics depicting energy and matter flying apart. It can be applied to culture also and its not a happy phenomena. there was no TV where I was growing up, much less computers. I'm in my 70s. We spent a lot of time with others, time in nature, at the outdoor skating rink, at the Fri night dance and the greasy diner on Sat afternoon. We cooked, read books and poetry and sang in a choir. It was easier to make friends, find a partner and have a sense of community. I'm really glad I grew up then.

Hugging their phone for dear life staring at the thing oblivious to all and sundry. These must be the crack heads of the brave new cyber world
