Seinfeld Time

I was a huge Seinfeld fan. But I haven't watched it for a good 15 years or so since my undergrad days in the mid 2000s. What happened to all those DVD season box sets? Anyway, wow everything feels so dated now. Not just the terrible fashion, huge jackets, giant ties, bizarre colors, but there are rotary phones, phone books, answering machines, rolodexes, giant mobile phones, and the pacing is so slow and finally, almost all of Jerry's standup is gender orientated. I never noticed! I feel ancient!!!!

The best part of Seinfeld is that every role is inherently making fun of every thing men. The relentless cynicism of 90's was the greatest revolution to be part of. George Costanza and Elaine Benes were 2 of the greatest characters ever written and acted.

There are certain people in showbiz who become megastars but for the life of me I can't figure out why.
Jerry Seinfeld is one of those people.
Even the sound of his voice makes me cringe. I've never found him funny and his stupid show came across as "fantasy fulfillment" for mediocre men because Jerry would always have some beautiful new girlfriend throughout the series (who in reality would never have anything to do with him unless he was rich).
And speaking of girlfriends, Jerry Seinfeld has always been a creep obsessed with dating MUCH younger women. Apparently, he started dating one of his girlfriends when she was a teenager! And his current wife is young enough to be his daughter. Blech!

The show will spend twenty minutes (and nine minutes of commercials) setting up thirty seconds of punch line and oh, the sexism, shallowness, lack of moral compass in any of the characters. I have a friend that brings the show up time to time. “It's a show about nothing”. He's been repeating that for 25 years. It had its moment in the 90s, put it out to pasture. It doesn't stand the test of time. Ugh, will it ever go away?
What makes matters worse, I learned a decade or so, is just how arrogant Jerry Seinfeld is. Once you've seen the interviews, and read the stories, you wince at the sight of him, you certainly won't watch reruns of Seinfeld.

It was new, marvel, novel, fresh, current, funny, and it didn't take itself too seriously. And it had no idea what "gender orientated" meant.

After Seinfeld‘s final season, the cast basically just took their millions and ran for the hills. Had Michael Richards played his cards right by not making racist remarks, then his career wouldn’t have been flushed down the toilet.

Back in the day I remember being in a bar on Thursday night and the waitress asked me why I wasn't at home watching Seinfeld. This told me two things- I was a loser. And an alcoholic

it was always contrived program with artificial cast that would never happen in real world mainly to get superficial laughs much like seinfeld and the producer w his own comedy show whatever his name is

Seinfeld, In Living Colour, Reno 911, Kids In The Hall, MAD TV etc could never be produced to day, due to the snowflakes getting upset over things that don't even matter nor even apply to them.
