2 weeks notice

I like my job. I like the people I work with. However, as someone who has disabilities, going to the gym is the only way I can physically and mentally prepare for employment. I work hard outside my work hours to be a capable reliable worker. In 2 years of COVID the only time I crashed and burned was April May of this year in the 3rd wave restrictions. I am much more cautious this time. Giving my notice is tough, but with no physical and mental health outlet, I can not work a higher stress job.

I totally agree with you!

A lot of the younger and unemployed students on here will judge you because they have no idea what the 9-5 grind is like. It's stressful, demeaning, toxic, and longer than just 9-5. Student life was a breeze.

Anyways, I hear ya and support your decision! Good luck!

Can’t you workout outside? There’s so much more than just the gym. And then there’s sex too. So much better for your mental health

That’s a very permanent solution to a what’s likely to be a short-term situation. Not to mention that there’s a LOT of other ways to keep fit and reduce stress than going to the gym. Lots of excellent home workouts available on YouTube for example, or going outside! I suspect that this is an excuse and that you’re not addressing the real problem.

I also had an April crash and didn’t bounce back until autumn. You are doing the right thing and I commend you for being proactive. Best wishes for a healthier balance.

Me too

But I’m seeking remote work instead of heading back to the office because i just can’t take the stress of having to work in an office during this pandemic. What if the next mutation is super transmissible and super dangerous? Where will I be at that point, looking for remote work like everyone else & their dog

I vaguely know this lady who works 2 jobs to support her young kids, but while her coworkers at fitness center can apply for EI she cannot qualify as she has a second job. Gyms losing membership affects staff too.

Also sucks for me because my gym was being used for my car accident rehab.

Seriously, have you no idea what it's like with the cost of living in this city + tuition? Do you really believe all young people live at home, with their parents, and tuition is being paid by their parents? It's meagre fucking life as a student in Vancouver. Student loans, working two McJob's, with multiple roommates in shitty mouldy rentals, while juggling the workload, then we're told how lucky we are to live in world-class Vancouver by some out of touch idiot that hasn't been in a classroom in 20 years or more.

Well said, that comment bothered me too. Some people project from a place where they're incapable of seeing suffering beyond their own. They're selfishly out of touch with the reality.
