Nothing cheers me up like "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."

It was made before I was born, & not only is it witty, charming & delightfully hilarious, it's also like stepping into a time machine to the 1970's. Life was stressful then too -- Vietnam War, skyrocketing inflation, Watergate, the Oil Crisis. But laughter & friendship go a long way towards getting through things.

I watched it when I was a kid, then bought the DVDs so I could introduce it to my kids. Wonderful ensemble - the best! - and terrific writing. I've had to explain about the puffy hairdryer that Rhoda uses in one scene, and that Mary was being ultra-cool when she ordered a steak sandwich. And hard to believe that Rhoda was considered "the chubby one". Great show - so glad to hear you're enjoying it!

I wish I grew up in the 1970s so that I could see those great programs. There’s Company, Fat Albert, All in the Family, & The Muppet Show to name a few. If I was a kid in that decade, I would have gotten a kick out of Sesame Street and The Electric Company. Groovy, pure grooviness.

Despite all the stressful events going on during the 70s I do firmly believe it was a more simple time. A time before people were addicted to their smartphone.

Look up on YouTube Coca Cola commercial Hilltop 1971. Brings a smile to my face every time.

I can’t speak for all men… but Mary is my idea of the female unicorn. She can take a joke. And also dish it out.
