Delivery drivers

are getting out of hand. The other day I refused to let in some parcel delivery guy to my building and he looked at me like I was Hitler. Just because you have a parcel or someone’s food does not mean I will throw open the doors, roll out the red carpet and bow to you as your enter my building. The rules about letting people in are SO FUCKING OBVIOUS guys. You don’t have special rights because you work for Amazon.

I live in an older building where most of the buzzers don’t work. I usually let delivery drivers in so that they can get their job done and my neighbours can save a trip (often involving an inconvenient transit ride) to a drop-off point or depot.

And another thing….

…shut the damn music off when you’re parked and exited the vehicle on a delivery!! What’s up with that?!?

Much agreed

They have phone numbers, they can call if the buzzer doesn't work. Also, they let anyone in with them when they come and it has resulted in theft . They don't care.

If...

... you believe he was a delivery guy and you just didn't let him in then that's not very kind. I mean if you were uncertain he was a delivery guy that's another thing which was closed off with the idea that you know he works for Amazon.

Dear Karen,

if the whole point of the delivery driver being there is specifically to deliver food or a package why would you not ,et them in? If it was your package or food you would want someone to let them in, so you got your order and you wouldnt be inconvienced by having to leave and go pick it up, especially with covid? You're a rude, self entitled Karen. If anyone needs a reality check and to realize they don't have special rights, it's you.

This post sounds very Vancouver

I hate myself so I’m going to order a bunch of shit I don’t need with my disposable income and then bitch about the proletariat who bring it to me.

I have so many packages and it’s literally the most important job in the world so let me in even tho I’m super rude and creepy. I just want to freely wander around your bulding!

Most stratas have explicit rules prohibiting anyone from allowing someone without a key into the building. Lots of thefts from buildings happen because someone poses as a delivery person in order to get into the building. If the person expecting a delivery isn’t available to let the delivery person in, then they’ll just have to go pick it up elsewhere.

Notice something

I notice when people don't like rules, policies or procedures that they pull the Karen/Nazi hyperbole. This isn't about your misguided blanket self-entitlement under the banner of freedom (and Canada is a very, very free country). It's about keeping a safe environment and preventing theft. Apartments aren't public places. Delivery people can use their phones and people can add alternate drop off addresses or other instructions to ensure packages are received. If using your tools challenges your job, then speak to the area manager.
