Elon Musk

Things haven’t been going very well at work. I’m stuck in a dead end job where the hours aren’t great and the people are shitty. The company I work for is one of those “Top 100 Employers in BC”, which is really bullshit. I have grown tired of favouritism, layers of bureaucracy and the lack of support from the Union. I’m looking to work somewhere else in the meantime and pray that something much better is waiting around the corner. Reading about how Elon Musk bought Twitter and has high functioning Autism gives me a bit of hope because if he can become hugely successful, so can I. I’m trying.

Sounds like a certain university, but then again it sounds like many companies.

Hope you make it. I don't know much about neurodiversity but if your particular situation is a heightened ability to focus (and exclude noise) then yes I can definitely see reason to be optimistic.

Musk has had resources many people could only dream of having access to, his father had an emerald mine in Zambia, so Musk is far from self-made. He was born in South Africa to an extremely wealthy white family that profited off the exploitation of workers in sub-Saharan Africa and apartheid-era South Africa. Mining in Africa uses child labour, has horrible working conditions, disease, abuse of workers, and fatalities all commonplace.

With a rich family to borrow money from, and massive amounts of wealth gained from the exploitation of African mineral resources, Musk could finally purchase Tesla. Yes, you read that correctly. While it is commonly believed that Musk founded Tesla, this is untrue, and another reminder of the power of PR.

Billionaires are not our friends, and they are not self-made. Every billionaire makes their money by lying, cheating, stealing, and exploiting every step of the way. PR is a tool used by the extremely wealthy to make ordinary working people, whose labour they exploit and whose tax dollars they parasitically siphon, believe that they can be rich too if they work hard enough. In the meantime, they pay their way to the top and get rewarded with government money.

Lastly, I suspect he uses autism as an excuse to be a dick, he most likely doesn't even have it, and is really just an a#%hole.

Work for the man or work for one’s self. Sounds like you work for the man.

not to discount the whole autism = hugely successful correlation being imagined here... but does your father happen to own a Zambian emerald mine?

Looking for inspiration is admirable, but Elon Musk? I don't have to type this out, the post from Neuroa#%hole said it all, but I don't want to be discouraging either. There are many, many admirable, successful people on the spectrum, Temple Grandin being one of my favourites. She has been a total game changer and inspiration.

it's easy to be "successful" if you have a social impairment that makes you blind to the suffering of others. Doesn't have to be Asperger's- if you have a personality disorder like Donald Trump, you can parlay your narcissism and reckless disregard for the social contract into vast wealth. But millions of people will hate your guts.

You will make yourself feel better by helping other people feel better. Try that.
