Hold me back!

I confess that I really, and I mean REALLY, want to slap someone silly. There’s this woman (using that term loosely because she acts more like a 12 year old) who hangs out in a spot right beside the building I live in. I work from home, and I’m frequently on calls. This “woman” likes to take her breaks from her own workplace by hanging out about 5 feet from my bedroom / office window. Not only does she smoke, which is bad enough, but she carries on these loud conversations, and for most of the conversation she’s giggling loudly and inanely like a complete idiot. Non-stop. Every single day, several times a day. It’s become so irritating that I have begun imagining scenarios where I march outside and slap her senseless just like Will did to Chris. I realize that she’s probably talking to a guy, but are men really that stupid that they find this crap attractive? The guy says “hello” and she’s giggling coyly? Really? I’m a woman and seeing other women acting like children bugs the hell out of me. Give me strength!!!

I confess

I sometimes get angry negative thoughts too. But, the recent death of the Vietnamese Buddhist monk Tich Nhat Hanh has really touched my inner growth. Like most of my generation I'd heard of the hell and violence his people were subjected to. When the Vietnam war was ramping up, that image of his colleagues pouring gas on themselves and striking a match is burnt onto the pages of history; but somehow Tich's death led I to check his numerous online videos and it took my consciousness to a deeper realization of how him choosing to find compassion for those who do us wrong, led me to look deeper into my own need to do likewise.

Why...

... don't you try Connelly asking her to smoke and chat somewhere else because you work at home and it's disturbing you? I can't tell from your confession if you've tried that and it hasn't worked or if you're just really passive aggressive. Try talking to her and asking her to smoke somewhere else. As for the giggling thing yeah I like a girl who Giggles when she says hello. It's like that Big Bopper song

Loving every moment

Sometimes I light up a cigarette simply to annoy people, especially those that annoy me. I hope you come undone soon, afterall, we're all in this boat together.

That sounds extremely annoying! In olden days you could open the window and throw the bath water out! Hmmmm

box living

we're all being forced to live in 'boxes' which keeps us in too close proximity to our neighbours. try talking to her. i've lived in apartments where smoke drifts right into my place and i'm horribly allergic. i've taken time to speak to these people, they really don't mean any harm and most of the time they've changed their habits so as not to bother me. i find that 90% of the time they are unaware of what they are doing and don't know their smoke is filling my place. bring a carrot cake gift or cookies with you if you really want to make them feel bad. chances are it'll fix the situation. treat them with kindness. if it doesn't work, then by all means blast crap music or do something equally obnoxious but speak to the building manager or strata council first if speaking directly to the person didn't work before you consider retaliation. good luck with this, what a pain in the ass when you're trying to work.
PS there have been recent court rulings decided against smokers in apartments even if they are owners.

If I misread your post and this is some person who works outside your building then get a big buck of ice cold water and go at 'er! Just kidding. Maybe yell down at her and tell her you hear every word she's saying and that you have been recording her conversations to post somewhere for the general public. That should do the trick.

Funny this sounds like it could be my old neighbour except a man. Extremely emotionally immature, unaware, smoker, constantly bellowing around, just the sound of his voice and fake laugh would send shivers down my spine. The WORST neighbour but somehow always complaining about what everyone else was doing, what they were cooking, where they walked, what they had on their balconies, completely unaware of his atrocious living habits that we all apparently had to put up with because he was just oh so perfect. He would always complain about my perfume, I didn't douse myself in it, just a light mist, and hello he was a smoker complaining about perfume! So anyways what did I do, bought three diffusers of the scent and ran them 24-7. That seemed to shut him up for about 5 minutes lol. I ended up moving, couldn't put up with his constant bitter complaints (and a lot more, left out to preserve anonymity), now my neighbours are lovely and I can't imagine the hell I put up with for so long. If it's just the smoking and loud calls, albeit annoying, she's outside so probably not much you can do. If there's more to it than that and it becomes unliveable, and you're able to, find another home. It's not worth feeling at war in your home, it's supposed to be a sanctuary.
