I don't know where I belong

No family, no close friends. Have been priced out of renting in my beloved neighborhood. Where do I go? Different town, different province?

Can you work from your laptop? If so, you can move to another country. Some countries have digital nomad visas. Believe it or not, you can still rent an apartment for $800.00 in Tokyo, $400.00 or less in Bangkok and $500.00 or less in Kuala Lumpur. All those cities are more culturally rich and dynamic than Vancouver could ever dream of being.

Try moving in province first.

Less hassle, in the end.

Digital nomads? Or bulls in a china shop? Stay here if you can, OP. Don’t listen to these pied pipers. Anonymous wants you gone… it says more about them. To think these ghouls live amongst us…

To go: far north, far south, or far west. Also to the very east coast, or some small town on the prairies.

Why do people like you constantly post about how Vancouver is so much worse than all these other cities? If you hate it so much, why are you here? It would be lovely if a bunch of you and your pals who think it’s awful here would leave. Vancouver is desirable because of its location, obviously. Not everyone wants to live in places like Tokyo and Bangkok. The thought of living in either of those places makes me shudder. There’s too many people here for my liking, and those places are far worse. So please, just leave and go live there so those of us who love Vancouver can get back to enjoying it.

I find it interesting that your advise to go to different places because they are so cheap.
However your missing the point that this person is probably broke and couldn't afford the start up costs to even get there.
Snowflakes give shitty advice when they never say how to get the money to do this and are most likely broke as fuck like the poster and could never front anyone the money for this adventure they are suggesting.
Stay in your head and off of confessions

I hope you can move past the very natural grief you're probably feeling and see moving to a new place as an adventure, a way to learn new things about yourself and maybe even a way to make new friends. Best of luck to you!

I have been going through the same thing for the past few years now. Have no idea where I belong, or where I can even afford to live with these high prices. Sadly, it seems like its happening everywhere in Canada. Wish I knew what I will do next...never thought I would be in this situation in my later years. This is suppose to be the time in ones life to slow down and enjoy!

I’m in the same sinking boat…I moved back here from a small town and don’t recommend it without serious consideration as the rents will be the same but the lack of jobs and pay will be worse. Not sure where all these rentals are that the politicians are touting? Without another person to contribute to my insane (75% of income) rent, looks like I’m heading for homelessness. Something has to change and fast!
