Maybe I’m pessimistic but…

I don’t believe for one minute that the pandemic is over. It’s far from it. Just because Bonnie Henry says wearing masks are now a choice, that doesn’t mean the virus will go away and never come back. It’s here to stay but basically manageable. If we’re actually returning back to a normal life then whatever, I’ll believe it when I see it.

You're not alone

I hold two jobs, one is seasonal has not had mask mandatory since the restrictions lifted and has had little issue. the other is militant mask to the point they inferred I should be wearing them outside of work hours in respect to my fellow co-workers.

It's still with us

According to one of the epidemiological modelers for BC, the BA.2 variant is not yet here in BC and when it does arrive, our numbers will jump sharply upwards. There won't be a return to any sort of lockdown but masking may return. I say, just keep masking until this virus is truly endemic (which it is not yet). It's a minor inconvenience and worth the hassle.

It will never be "over". That's what endemic means.

Stark Reality

The virus isn't magically going to go away. The pandemic isn't going to finish as you were told to believe if you just keep doing more of what they say. Two years of the goalposts being moved with no evidence any of it worked. There's no switch to hit, no going back to normal. It's a matter of learning to live with it and respecting people's choices.

Just spoke to a business today that is behind with their invoicing because a co-worker was off sick with Covid. Be careful, people.

We have more technology but more ignorance now

Spanish flu lasted 3 years, that's what I expect from this. people make it too much about what the govt "lets" us do as opposed to using common sense. As soon as we got our first vaccination, we discovered that the virus was still contagious. Now people aren't even trying to social distance and get surprised when their whole family catches it. People are just self-centered and stupid, when it comes down to it.
