No thanks

I’m a single male in my mid-30s. Haven’t dated in two years ever since I let go of a long-term relationship. Of course I’ve chatted with a few women on dating apps here and there, but that’s about as far as I’ve gone lately. For some reason, I’m just not in the mood to date anymore. I don’t even know how to explain…I’m just not feeling it. Maybe I live in the past, but it’s hard to carry on since the last thing I want is for history to repeat itself. Can’t afford another heartbreak again.

There’s really no right or wrong answer if you want to put yourself out there back in the pool or not. It takes time to heal over broken relationships. All you have to do is build your confidence back and not let yourself go back into the past. Once the past has passed, there’s nothing you can do but learn about yourself and carry on. Hope you find someone that’s a good fit for you.

There’s nothing wrong with being single and you don’t need anymore to define you. At least you can have time to yourself, cook for yourself, live life on your own terms without having any ball and chain to answer to. Then again, just my personal opinion.

If you’ve given up on love in your 30’s then, yeah, I’m calling you a chicken. You’re still a kid ffs! Put your big boy pants on and realize that you’re not owed anything in this life. Everyone takes a risk of getting hurt when they’re brave enough to try. If you’re so scared of getting hurt that you won’t even try, then sure, just hide away feeling sorry for yourself and get used to being alone.

I'm not looking for a relationship.
I then tell them I'm on n a search for an inspired cocksucker.

You tried getting back with your ex last summer. Whatever, that's fine, but you're a liar to all the people who've dated you. Sleep well tonight.

Occasionally feeling lonely is bettee than the months-years long sadness of a relationship ending ...or the stress of daily arguments from being in a mismatch relationship.

But can you afford the pain of continued loneliness either?

My husband died from cancer a little over 2 years ago and I have no interest in dating again. He was as close to perfect as any human could be. I just cannot bring myself to want to date ever again and that's okay. It bothers my family and friends, but whatever. I get pushed out socially for not being coupled up, but so be it. Every guy I dated before him were a-holes (lied, cheated, gaslit), and I just can't expose myself to the Brave New World of disposable dating culture. I'm 39. I plan to live my life like Betty White.
Readers, if you have a friend who is single, divorced, or widowed, please don't shut them out. They want your friendship and shouldn't have to pair off to maintain it.

I wish I could like your comment 100 times. All of what you’ve said makes so much sense.

I would like to echo what you’ve said and ask people not to stigmatize single people or bully them into partnerships they don’t want. Betty White all the fucking way!
