On a personal preference...

I closed my Amazon account...the reason randomly ordering stuff online just for the convenience when I could just take the bus or walk to buy options....maybe I just don't like the online shopping experience...I know some people do....but I'd rather look at stuff in person before I buy rather in front of my laptop or computer.....or smartphone lol.

Most of the stuff I got from them arrived broken. They do have a good return policy.

I personally despise the "just buy it off of Amazon" mentality and would gladly give my money to local businesses if they actually carry the product.

Besides, why make Bozos more money than he already has?

Bye bye Amazon

I closed my Amazon account because I truly dislike Jeff Bezos, the way he treats his workers, and the environmental impact of what he’s doing. At first I definitely missed the convenience, but now I don’t care at all. Most of the things I’d ordered from Amazon were whim purchases I didn’t need anyway, so now I’m just saving more money and accumulating less low quality crap.

My main reason not to shop on Amazon is to not make Bezos any richer than he already insanely is.

I've done some venturing into shopping in person. I can't say I like the blasting irritating music, or the clerks that hover and pester you repeatedly.

It’s how you use it. Smart phones, tablets, laptops, the internet etc can be wonderful tools if you have the willpower to harness them for good. Yep, it’s hard bc they are so damn addictive. Bezos doesn’t need any more dollars but Amazon has made it so much easier to find that obscure and needed part, comparison shop easily and not drive all over town looking for what you need. I do not condone his treatment of workers among other things so therin lies my conundrum.

A necessary evil

Apr 16, 2022 at 5:52am

For some of us, buying from Amazon or online is a necessity due to price or time. I also hate Bezos and his ilk. However, I’ve tried in vain to find what I needed in local stores, for the same price and quality, and could not. I looked for used for some larger furniture items and the cost of hiring someone to move it made the used item more expensive than buying it brand new from Amazon who delivered it to my doorstep. Not to mention the time involved running around looking for what I need in local stores. So I’ve held my nose and bought some stuff off of Amazon and so far I’ve been extremely happy with the purchases. I’m not an impulse buyer and I do a lot of research before I purchase, including looking at the availability of what I need in local stores, and very frequently they either don’t have it at all or if they do it’s more expensive. I recently had to return something and the return was very simple and no questions asked other than why I was returning it. My money was refunded in full the same day that they received it. In-person shopping is no longer an option for many people due to their schedules, availability of time or transportation, or health issues. So having a viable option like Amazon is great, which explains why bezos is a billionaire.

I have never used Amazon and never will. Bezos treatment of the very workers who have made him rich are disgraceful and shows a contempt for them that I refuse to support. If I can't find it in a store, then I just deal with not having it.And I can't stomach enriching him even more while his workers are treated with disrespect. I was so happy to hear about the unionization in New York.Workers are uniting, fighting back and rightfully asking for a share of the pie.

I bought a book online called "How To Scam People".
That was 4 months ago and I still haven't received it.

It’s ironic the same whiny complainers who had a problem with Jeff Bezos going into orbit are the same geniuses who have a frequently used Amazon accounts. It’s so funny it’s almost sad. And then there’s the doordash divas. Fabulous humans they are!
