Re-entering society

Like mostly everyone else, I’m re-entering society after 2 years of solitary pandemic life. What smacks me hard in the face is dealing with people again. Their egos. Their insecurities. Their lust. I wish I could first be a fly in the wall, just observing and not being directly involved. Watching the preview first before deciding to jump in. Alas, it’s not like that. It’s face to face contact with the human beings again. And it leaves me preferring the days where I experienced no judgment, no jealousy, no dealing with the minds of the opposite sex. People are complex and I don’t feel much desire to get to know them better, to deal with their baggage and needs and wants. Transitioning back in needs to happen in microdoses.

Re: "Their Egos. Their insecurities. Their list."

None of those are sentences. Your tone is one of haughtiness, just pointing out you have no reason to feel that way.

I like your idea of microdosing face-to-face time. I’m in a fear paralysis that I want to overcome and a slow wade-in might be the way forward.

Yes, the woods! Love those trees and singing birbs. You'll tell me if you see any elves?

I understand

but I don't feel the same way. I enjoy the complexity of every person and want to help any with insecurities or pain instead of only associating with perfect people who don't have any baggage. Oh wait, we ALL have baggage. There are no perfect people. And helping people resolve their baggage (if they want the help) is the unselfish thing to do.

It would be nice if getting together were a blank piece of paper, and people lightly scribbled with an erasable pencil. Instead it’s thick black brush strokes. My sensitivity to people is like 12 out of 10. People’s motivations are revealed all in their words to me and their glances. I prefer listening to the wind and birdsong. The most interesting person I met during the pandemic is an indigenous South American man. He does not operate with ego in full swing like most people who are in my face. He’s like the opposite of an Instagram feed. Not too many folks with that kind of quiet confidence here.

People are a real trip. Micro dosing sounds like an excellent idea. Take LOTS of breaks and get into nature to help fill up your tank before the next barrage of soul sucking human interaction. Some people get their energy from sucking the life out of others. People like us get our energy from peace, quiet, rest, nature, and time. It’s almost like we are the vegans of the personal energy world. The rest are pure obnoxious cannibals feeding off of each other. And I suppose some like a mix kind of like that weird cheese and caramel popcorn…
