Cheaters

I dump partners if they cheat, which is pretty common. But I also dump friends who cheat on their partners. If you're willing to screw over the person you're supposed to love the most and treat the best, you're willing to screw me over too. These people are always so shocked and claim it's "not fair to judge them" but good riddance to bad company.

Somewhat supportive of this

I think it depends on the person and the situation.

That said, I had a friend who I stuck with through a couple instances of cheating and a longer affair that ended in the dissolution of their marriage. Yadda yadda yadda, we are no longer speaking.

I regret not standing up for their partner, who was undoubtedly a nicer person and deserved so much better.

An ex always used the word "cheaters" as a way to mask their own cheating and philandering. If you truly do dump friends who cheat, you are one of the good ones. You are one of the good ones because in a time of isolation, many would justify the means of keeping bad people in their life. thanks for this. it was a very nice confession to read Monday morning.

True enough.
I don't know why people cheat.
I say life is way to short to not be happy so if your at the point of even considering cheating on someone it's time to go.
Take the road less traveled.
I feel people have forgotten what true love feels like or have never really experienced it yet and settling should not be an option.
Waste of time and energy.
Don't forget about Passion.
Where has Passion gone Man ?

There would be no cheating

if people either stayed single or were in open relationship or lives liked hermits and never socialized with other people.
Also a lot of religious people don't cheat (yeah, yeah... some do, but most don't) because their religion tells them not to.

@OP - You wrote "I dump partners if they cheat, which is pretty common."
So it's pretty common that your partners cheat? Have you tried to find out why?

People cheat

For all kinds of reasons and I choose to not label them all as bad people because it’s not true.

Re: Have you tried to find out why?

Not the OP, but two obvious socio-cultural reasons I can think of are 1) big tech’s manipulation of our attention spans and reward centres and 2) the smorgasbord of people that one can access privately via the apps.

You've reminded me about a so called good buddy who took a chance on my girlfriend. I sent them both out of my life. They ended up shacking up for a few years and then they separated and she took him to the cleaners. Shortly after, he tried reconciling with me and was whining to me about his misfortune. I laughed in his face and haven't seen him since. And I'm getting a good chuckle about it again, 30 years later. Thanks op! You just made my day.

This was...

May 23, 2022 at 5:59pm

... honestly the part I found the weirdest the first time I got cheated on. It involved my girlfriend having a mutual friend lie about where she was going (she was really going to hang out with some degenerate modemer, back in the day, but they said it was a short overnight "girls night"), and none of our mutual friends had much problem with this.

I ended up getting rid of most of those people out of my life, don't miss them. Just garbage people. Trust is the most valuable thing we have, it separates us from the animals.
