Other hearts need you
posted May 4th, 2022 at 10:33 PM
Don't forget about the other lives who might need your help when you're hurting. I got blindsided dumped and I stopped caring for myself — and I'm still hurting. But tonight I cleaned my hummingbird feeder because you know what? Even though I'm hurting, those tiny hearts need me. Even if I can't see them all the time. And I bet you can find it in yourself to think of other little hearts who might need you, too, even if they don't show up often.

My whole life I have tried to be there for all the little hearts . I listened and tried to help the best
I could with strangers and friends and family. How come no one is ever there when you need some help ?
It's like a ghost town with tumble weeds blowing by when you need someone.
I'm not superman you know !
What does that say ?
Good job Op!

I just want to mention that hummingbirds can become sick from feeders that are dirty or contain old/expired liquid.
I'd recommend having at least 2 feeders - one that is hanging outside for use and a clean one inside not getting used but is ready to be filled up when the outdoor one needs to be cleaned.

Thanks! I do know this and I clean and refill my feeder every few days. I just almost didn’t do it this time because of how bummed I’ve been — but I dug deep and did it because I don’t want those little beauties to get sick :)
I appreciate you commenting about it, though!

Crappy family, but I have my chickadee crew.
Unlimited sunflower seeds, suet when it gets really cold, in the winter they sleep on my patio under cover, bring their new chicks around, and spend large amounts of time splashing around in the bird bath. Often is the highlight of my day

Do you feel like sharing your story?
Were you together long? Any kids?
Sometimes unloading helps... and us being anonymous strangers makes it safe. =)
On the bright side, since the pandemic ending seems to be on the horizon, you won't have to sit at home alone for too much longer. Unless you want to!
I've been single for years and have gotten comfortable with/don't agonize over being single, and every day is a fresh start for learning things and helping others and enjoying family & friends & hobbies.
Or just sitting on my balcony watching the birds at the feeder or birdbath. ;)

I don’t know that it matters how long we were together etc, but thanks for offering support. I will say that we differ on the pandemic — we’re in a sixth wave, and I feel terrible for all the vulnerable people who have been left by the wayside. Science says this is not good. Media aren’t reporting on it and government has given up. Neither changes the reality for many people. Wish you well, thanks again.

Used to regularly buzz you. You'd be walking and the little frickers would zing past your ear. Happened all the time

Dear OP, just think of the good that you do. Keep looking for your tribe. They are out there.
