I find the stock market

so strange: people get nervous so they sell everything and end up losing money and making their own worst fears come true. It’s like some sort of collective insanity.

And unto such as you
A maggot minded
Starved fanatic crew
God gave a secret
And denied it me?
Well well
What matters it
Believe that too

It's the day traders who almost always get their asses handed to them.

I met a man once who sold stocks, and he didn't own any stocks himself, he just took a percent of the profits and put it elsewhere. He chuckled when he told me that. I always wondered what that chuckle meant. That was pre-2008, maybe he was an oracle?

a thermometer to show how the elites are feeling.
It’ll change. Probably for the worse.

It’s just a crude ECG-type reading of rich assh*les’ feelings.

Gamble

The stock market is not much different than gambling unless you’re brilliant at it. Most people aren’t. I know someone who has spent decades gambling that they knew what to buy, when to buy it, and when to sell it. They made money but they lost a lot more. At the end of the day that person is no further ahead than if they’d not wasted 8 hours a day for 30 years trying to beat the market. So unless you’re truly unusually brilliant at it, you’d be better off investing in something tangible. I’m speaking from experience because I’ve invested in mutual funds as well as traded on the market myself, and over the past 15 years I’ve lost over $60,000 thanks to market crashes.

Stock market is a sham.
Inside trading only the rich get richer and the small time investors are the suckers who fund the rich.
Great system !

The markets are dominated by men. Tough talkin' men looking to make a buck but its also an acceptable cover where they can be incredibly anxious, nervous and unsure, and express it and act on it without being called a sissy.

What you describe does happen, but that is just one of many possible outcomes. People also make fortunes, grow their savings, invest in life-changing technology, etc. The market is many things, all at once. Panic selling is actually very understandable when you experience how the market manipulates your emotions and encourages you to do the wrong things at the worst times. It makes total sense from a human emotion perspective.

Listen Up

The problem is that 99.5% of people out there are too wrapped up in social media, watching Tube, watching Netflix, etc while the world goes by.
I have made absolute fortunes by paying attention to what's going on in the world. Russia invades-oil, gold and bonds shot up which I anticipated.
Covid-with travel bans long before N America... I shorted any and all travel stocks and waited 3 weeks for the US to have travel bans. And they all crashed.
All was hedged, all with high leverage and with stop losses in place.

Turn off your garbage information overload, pay attention, and think.
