What is the

point of anything? Lately I just feel like everything is going to pot more and more and I’m glad I had some action-packed years but if the future is just going to be pandemics, climate change and economic collapse then why are any of us bothering with anything except maybe trying to save the environment?? Why are people still running around touting their own horns and having kids and showing off on social media?

This could very be a period of transition for the human race. We had the classical era, The Classical era, also known as Classical antiquity, began roughly around 600 B.C. in most of the world. It marked the beginning of a philosophical period in world history, as well as the first recorded sources of human history. Politically, the Classical era saw the rise – and fall – of most world empires.

The Middle Ages is also known as the Medieval or Post-Classical era. Historians refer to the early part of this period as the Dark Ages due to the loss of recorded history after the fall of the Roman Empire in A.D. 476.

The Early Modern Era, which immediately followed the Middle Ages, saw a resurgence of the values and philosophies from the Classical era. When you think of Leonardo da Vinci, William Shakespeare, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Christopher Columbus, you’re thinking of the Early Modern Era.

The Modern era. The influences of both the Renaissance and the Enlightenment led to a technological boom in the Modern era, also known as the Late Modern era. The world of politics was rocked by wars, revolution and the end of the monarchy in many countries. The Modern era is truly a cumulation of millions of years of human development.

So now maybe we're transitioning into a post-capitalist society or something that's yet to be named because we're in the beginning of this transition? It'll be tumultuous, and sadly we're the one's that will have to endure a period of it, but the race has done it before as we've seen and survived. When I get down, I remind myself that in 1000 years everything will be what we've envisioned for ourselves for the last 100 years. A hell of a lot better than it is today.

Why?

Because life goes on and the only choice is to live well while we can. We only have this one, rare chance to experience it, all of it. None of us can save the whole world alone, but any of us can help make things better for even one person, one animal, or one environmental situation, here and now.

Because they are in Denial and Don't care about the environment unless it really starts to Annoy or Affect their lives would any real change happen.
People care to much about what other people think about them and are in a perpetual state to try and impress someone. And it doesn't even matter in the long run we are here but such a short time. Humans are such creatures of habit.
Change does not really come that easy for them !
Makes them so afraid !
Change is Good !
Be the Change you want to See :0
Some famous person said that but I agree :)

The climate has changed

It keeps me up at night. Our little Vancouver pocket of “nothing really happening” besides cool temps is a false sense of security. You look at the recent global events, flooding in Australia x3 incidents this year so far, record heat for June in Japan and Europe, India, Pakistan, heat dome in the southern US…. Mother Nature is pissed off and getting back at us, ALL of us. Yet everyone continues to fly and drive and jack up the AC like there’s no tomorrow. I don’t think most people care; they’re too busy looking at staged photos of themselves.

Why was i born?

Jul 4, 2022 at 2:47pm

Why am i living?
What do i get? What am i giving?
Why do i long for things i dare not hope for?
What do i long for?
I wish i knew.

I agree with you, OP. Having kids right now seems like the height of selfish behaviour. I grieve for those who will have to come of age facing the mess we're leaving behind.

Your suggestion?

So should we all simply stop having any fun whatsoever? Is that going to change things? Realistically at this point I think that it’s too late. The kazillionaires own everything already, the planet is likely terminally ill, and the mega-crazies are in charge or close to taking over everything. We’ve got to grab some joy while we can, or we might as well just roll over and die.
