I need a vacation

I havnt been anywhere since before the pandemic. Im aching to travel! I actually have the money to go but I recently started a new job and realized that i dont get any time off till next year. Honestly, this is making me re-think this job. We deserve better. I work so bloody hard for less and less and I dont even get any meaningful time off. I dont know… im just tired and frustrated. I feel a darkness hanging over me and im trying my best to fight it and avoid slipping back into drugs. Its really hard right now. Sorry for this random dumb rant. This probably doesnt even make sense. At least the sun is shining…

Screw the job, life is short, take a vacation. It sounds like you desperately need it and you can always find another job when you return.I'm not sure why you took on a new job when you obviously need a break. With everything going on in the world, time is of the essence. There is more to life than working and delaying it for another year will only add more misery. If I were in your shoes, I'd have already bought a ticket somewhere and what do you really have to lose? I started a new job six months ago and am taking October off to see my family: jobs come and go but my family ( especially my elderly parents) won't be around forever.

Have you considered the option of a 'staycation'? There are lots of cool places around the Lower Mainland (assuming you live here), and depending on where you reside, going somewhere else for a day may feel like a mini-vacation. If you live DT and have access to a car, try Fort Langley. Or head to Whistler or Squamish. Or even go to the Burnaby Village Museum, or to Steveston, or White Rock. And if you don't live/work DT, then take Skytrain to Vancouver and walk the Seawall, or head to Granville Island. Make like a tourist. Have ice cream, walk on piers, see the place from a different perspective. It's not the same as getting completely away, but it might make your brain feel like it's had a vacation and may lift your spirits. (I'm assuming you get at least a day off a week from work.) And hang in there. It's not a "dumb rant" and perfectly understandable. All the best.

Hang in there. I don’t mean to over simplify or negate the severity of the complex issues associated with drug addiction… Just for today

Silverwing holiday! Do those even exist anymore? Probably can age me by that jingle. Anyways, I think people deserve to take vacation regardless of whether they're new to the job or not, at least some if not all of their earned vacation. It's not healthy to do otherwise.

Nothing wrong with a good rant sometimes it makes you feel better just getting it off your chest.
I say rant away :)
You know I heard scream therapy is very helpful but in the city people would think your nuts.
Screaming at the top of your lungs releases pent up frustrations apparently.
Need to find a mountain Hummm !

If you're under 50 years old, you would be crazy to go back to drugs. But if you're over 50 you would be crazy not to go on a few benders every few days or so.
