Maybe ignorance really is bliss

I’ve passed a threshold in my working life that I can’t walk back on; if I think you’re mean, incompetent, manipulative, or plain stupid, I will no longer pretend I don’t notice. I’m the past, I went along with it to not rock the boat. Nowadays I just loathe to deal with the phonies, the narcissists, the dummies. I wish I had an inspiring workplace where the work was meaningful and the colleagues inspiring. Instead the world is clearly showing signs of civilization breakdown, yet my boss continues to bully staff to “like” our own content to improve metrics for head office. I should just go plant trees as my contribution to society would be tangible and net positive.

Tree planting is a job for the very young, it's brutal, I've done it. You better think of something else. Ask yourself If you found another job, would it be any different, and how many inspiring workplaces are there? Far and few between, I suspect.

When I was pushed to the limit, I went and taught English in Asia. It's a McJob of sorts, but with a better salary, but the inspiration came from the surrounding region. Some expats were creeps sure, but others pretty cool and living there for the same reason I was, because working in an office was rather pathetic. Mike Judge made a movie about it, that's how pathetic it is, and Mike Judge knows pathetic. Take some time out, and see if you can find some inspiration. Is that an option?

If you hate it so much and are unhappy, ask yourself why you stay. Instead of complaining, quit and look for something else. Do you really want to wake up everyday with the first thought being" I hate my job and boss".

The world has become such an unhappy place.
My heart keeps breaking but there's nothing I can do but run.
It's hard to hurt a moving target.

I’m not sure if it’s blissful to not know everything… but needing to know “everything” sounds like hell.

Well… that’s why they call it work. I guess you’ll have incredible stories of hardship and selflessness. “You kids today won’t believe me, but our bosses used to make us add likes to the products we made,” and your grandkids will gasp in horror at such atrocities
