Asking coworkers out isn't a crime

In fact, two of my longest relationships have stemmed from an office romance fling. The most important thing is that people respect each other's boundaries, values, and professional paths. I think the government (institutions like universities at least) peddles easy answers and casts office romance in a negative light, but I know plenty of people in long-term relationships because they met at the office.

People dating people where I work is pretty common. Like anything in life it's the actions that matter. The amount of puppy love I see is awe inspiring. Every now and then some people a) make out at work or b) drunkenly make people uncomfortable at the season end office parties. judging only the bad ones or the good ones makes no sense. next season will start up and romances will repeat. helped out with a coworker wedding in august.

"The most important thing is that people respect each other's boundaries, values, and professional paths." Sums it up wisely, most aren't able to accomplish this, doomed to fail.

Go ahead and meet people, but don't hit on them at work, and don't ask them out more than once. Ever.
Imagine what it's like when every project you're on, you have to deal with every dude shooting his shot. It's that kind of treatment that leads to systemic exclusion. We are at work to work, not to be pretty scenery or attract you.

Mutual respect, it's what I tell all my students. Give me your A, I give you an A!

I always had a rule: Don’t get your ‘bread’ and ‘meat’ at the same store. If the romance ends, things can become messy, working relationships get tense and productivity can suffer.

I asked out a co worker for coffee. They said Yes! I guess I was just very lucky!
