Some people aren’t honest about their true feelings or intentions about other people. Sometimes they don’t even know what they are themselves. So when I ask what your intention was in saying or doing something, maybe I’m not just asking for my own sake but also for yours. If you can’t be honest with me, at least be honest with yourself. Once you’ve mastered that concept it’s very freeing. It’s being authentic, which for some people is a foreign concept.

I had venom for an ex person in my life due to their inability to be honest while questioning everyone else. However, I watched them bottom out in life recently and felt truly sorry for them. At our age(mid life) it is not as easy to get back up again from falling the way they did. Even harder for people who aren't honest with them selves.

I know a guy that thinks his lies are passable, but he's too drunk to even care anymore, a hard fall cometh.

Some people aren't being "dishonest" about their feelings

They just figure they shouldn't bother mentioning they're in-love with someone who is so much better-looking (& so much younger) than they are... at least not unless/until the other person says they feel the same way.

"Sometimes they don’t even know what they are themselves." It's not uncommon for a lot of people to have minimal self awareness, and have any idea why they are doing what they are doing. That's why the "sheeple" are so easily led around by their noses.

It might be a foreign concept to some folks

Because they have alexithymia. It is quite common not to be able to identify emotions, let alone articulate them.

So who's telling the truth here ?
I'm not sure what that means anymore.
Does it even exist in this day and age ?

Not just emotions

If we learn to pay attention to our own intentions then we become better able to live in the present moment. So asking yourself what you want for example, can clarify what we are really doing. Not just hiding whether we’re in love with someone, but asking yourself what you hope to achieve by saying or doing something. If you can’t be real with people then you’re likely operating with a hidden agenda, and that’s deceptive and unfair to the people in your life. Sure we all are guilty of this at one time or another, but some people seem totally unable to admit to what their true intentions are. It’s mentally exhausting dealing with someone like that because you wind up always feeling like you’re in a chess match of some kind instead of a relationship.

I want a married woman, but I'm married to someone else too.

Some people lie knowingly with harmful intention. However it's likely most people are telling the truth from their own perspective. Unfortunately it's a self centered all about me world, and no one cares to put themselves in the other person's shoes. If people did care enough to exercise some actual empathy towards someone else they may have to reevaluate their own perceptions and behavior. No one cares to do that anymore. So many people want everyone to change for them, but they would never change for anyone themselves. I gave up on relationships a long time ago. Most of whats available out there isn't worth the drama, the trouble, and the life shortening stress. I value my peace of mind more than anything else. Anyone that tries to mess with that will have the door slammed shut in their face.
