Vancouver has some of the coldest impersonable people on the planet

Living in Vancouver is like playing Sims while on a bad acid trip. People are passive aggressive, social awkward, cold and distant. It’s no wonder we have a homelessness crisis, no one looks out for each other. Even friendships here feel like you can never break the ice, you chip away at it, but never break it. Maybe if people weren’t so broke and the only industries here weren’t evil tech corporations then people would be a little nicer. After 8 years here I’m reaching a breaking point. It’s a shame how one of the most beautiful places on Earth can be so mishandled to create such a sterile, broken-spirited society - if you can even call it a society.
I used to love Vancouver, but realize I was in love w

It's been said here and elsewhere, Vancouver isn't normal, it really isn't. Coming from elsewhere is a lot like visiting a foreign country, a country you've never experienced before, it's that different from what a typical North American knows as "normal".
I'm at A&W.

We know. Cold, cliquey, stand-offish and passive-aggressive.
Never been to Surrey have you.

Psychotic liars, ugly ugly people, jealous, stupid, obsessed, loud mouthed assholes.
None of them bathe as much as I'd like them to either.
I’ve said this before…

But it bears repeating. The majority of the people who live in Vancouver are from somewhere else. Either other parts of Canada, or other countries in the world. So when you’re ranting about how terrible Vancouverites are, you likely haven’t encountered that many of them.

True, I was here 30 years ago, and the locals had those same qualities mentioned. It's bullsh*t xenophobia when someone claims it's the "outsiders", that make Vancouver unfriendly.
It is true

Vancouverites born and raised here are just used to it, but I'm tired of this cold lonely passive-aggressive city. I'm in my 20s, why should I be struggling with loneliness and people that snub you everything you try to make any connections? The closest to friends I've made here are acquaintances that recently moved here from elsewhere, but I think they pick up on the vibe and anyone that is social and genuine gets out.
