A wildly polarizing topic

I am increasingly annoyed with soft parents. Don’t be mean to your kids, but also don’t let them be disrespectful to the world around them. Sometimes I want a coffee in a coffee shop with a friend— A rare treat these inflated days—- and I don’t want to hear or witness your brat kid running around throwing a tantrum while you wait it out. Please by all means do that at home. But in the world we need to be mindful and respectful of our community and neighbours. I can tell you with certainty they will learn boundaries and how to understand some outbursts have a time and place. Not to diminish their feelings, but to not put their need to scream above everyone else’s right to enjoy the world too.

It’s beyond ridiculous when children are the ones in control. That’s not the way it’s meant to be. Parents now are so afraid of being judged for levelling actual boundaries and discipline on their children, that kids are basically running the show. I personally believe that kids become very confused and anxious when they know their parents aren’t in charge. The adult is the one who is supposed to set the tone for the child, and that means they’re responsible to help the child learn what is and is not acceptable behaviour in any place. Letting your kid annoy the hell out of everyone else is not being a good parent or a considerate person.

Taking notes. I will never bring my autistic child who has frequent meltdowns anywhere ever again.. If she screams I will spank her and force her to sit and cover her mouth nearly smothering her as she kicks and flails to keep her quiet so everyone can enjoy their meal because heaven forbid families with neuro divergent children ever try to go out. People like you, the people who stare, glare, whisper and shake their heads.. are the reason my child's meltdowns give me full blown panic attacks in public. Would I bring my child to a nice fancy restaurant where people are on lovely dates? No, but I should be able to go grab a coffee without judgment from everyone if my kid has a moment. If it gets bad.. yes, I will have consideration for other's peace and leave but please stop and remind yourself that the "brat" may be on the spectrum and that it's just as hard on the parent if not worse feeling all the prying eyes. Ignorant.

You’re correct. Parents don’t actually, y’know parent anymore. They’re too busy trying to be friends and are creating terrorists in the process. I’ve worked with little kids for almost 30 years. Parents today are way different from how they were at the beginning of my career.

I'm not sure what's going on with parenting and I don't believe in hitting a child. But these children are running things now. Getting away with horrible behavior to their parents and others.
One lady I met her little girl was biting her and hitting her mom calling her stupid and other choice words. You got to nip that crap right in the butt.
I believe if you really listen to your kids and talk with them, treat them like the little human beings they are and show them respect it comes back to you as well. Sometimes a little shock value should they get right out of hand. Like
" What the hell " How would you feel it I bit you ?Do you think that would feel good ?
Make them understand the shoe on the other foot scenario. One thing I can suggest when your out and about and if they start acting up, Don't care about the embarrassment of the situation deal with it right then and there, embarrass them right back. Why not they are acting ridiculous !
Parenting is the hardest job in the world, if you call it a job. Lol
But the most rewarding !
Children are very smart just listen to what they have to say !

Respectful of community and neighbours?

Hmm, and what delusional world do you live in? At least they're a child, the excuse for you adults behaving more like children than children is what? Work on your own boundaries, and children won't behave like the entitled bullies the majority of you people are.

Let’s stop pretneding

Let’s stop pretending this next couple of generations are ever going to have manners. Prioritizing emotional health over playing a respectful role in a society? We are heading to anarchy. Good luck getting a doctor. These kids can’t even be bothered to not plagiarize at school because they know they don’t have consequences. Lol. We are in for a woke but broke world
