I wasted my 20s living in Vancouver

-And now as a single almost 35 year old I hate myself every day thinking back to my young nieve self. Why couldn't I have found love and success when I was 25? Why didn't it take me until 29 to realize how doomed I was?

Most young people think they're so much smarter than they really are. Most think they're invincible, that's one of the reasons why they send them to war.

All My Relations. Good that ya concluded you story of inner life pain with a ? mark because; although no one knows-it-all about our existential reality, but many have had little peaks through the inter-dimensional curtain to give us hope that all is not in vain and the Universe(s) are benevolent. Yea, we ain't got the video to prove it, but somehow the new Webb telescope photos, and our dream visions, let us know that whatever may happen on this Planet, we've got trillions upon trillions of inhabitable Worlds. OCM Coast Salish salutations.

People move to Vancouver because

they don't belong any place else. I think that's why my orphaned grand parents wound up here.

And you're talking about wasting your life? Start now. Vancouver isn't your problem it's your mentality. Take responsibility for your problems and try to do something with your life. You take yourself in every city you go, no one or place will throw meaning or opportunity at you. Lose the pity party

To be honest, Vancouver is spectacularly socially alienating to the point of being incredibly stifling compared to many other places on the planet -- it's an actual quality that Vancouver almost palpably embodies, and which almost unfailingly infects those who live here for long enough. It can bring people down almost regardless of their mentality.

on the young. You’re still a kid to me. Thinking you’re doomed and that your life is ruined or over when, if you live an average lifespan, it’s barely half lived! Get out of your own way. Listen to some good podcasts or read some good books. Just work on changing your mindset, because kid, you are definitely your own worst enemy.

people don't realize that Vancouver is where all the jobs are. most working-class people don't want to live here, but have few alternatives; especially if you are single, gay, a minority, disabled, or have any other traits that would make it difficult (if not downright dangerous) to live in small-town BC.

0 friends, no life, still in my 20s though. Vancouver is terrible. Uptight, unfriendly, cliquey. Dating is impossible unless you want to sleep around on hookup apps. You pretty much don't make friends after high school, and I couldn't make friends in high school because it was the same unfriendly cliquey BS. Wish I could get out of here and get a refund on my time here.
