Take Your Medicine Peter Pan

I often thought Pan refused to grow up and was obsessed with death. Then I learned what medicine constituted in his time. Alcohol and morphine. Tonics to lull children into submission and slumber. What happens to children who are neglected and learn not to express their needs? Nothing good. Isn't medication better now though? Every drug has its all healing heyday in culture. Medicine could also mean bitter truths to take in. What did Pan need to process in order to heal?

Many modern drugs

especially psychiatric drugs, frequently cause absolutely nightmarish hell-on-earth experiences for millions upon millions of people (whether through continuous explosure and/or withdrawal), not to mention a plethora of various kinds of pharma-induced dis-ease. It's especially nightmarish if they are forced onto a person against their will, and one has no real way out for years or decades (the norm in psychiatry, tragically).

Iatrogenic harm is the third leading cause of death in North America according to multiple sources, and I'm not surprised at this point. Some popular things (mistakenly) called "medicine" are better avoided outright, as a matter of health and, in some cases, mortal urgency.

Re Peter Pan - I think maturing and deepening is important, but 'growing up' is basically a trap, from my point of view. Adult-itis is a terrible affliction to have to extremes for longer than a few hours at a time once in a blue moon. It tends to turn us into a shadow, a hollow, artificial and overly inhibited shell of what we used to be, or could be.

I admitted my illness and was fed poison

For the cure I guess I am just a unworthy person for saying I was sick the weakness of my actions shamed me to death. I stood and said I had this illness and realized it was disgusting! My reward poison for never acting as such again!
