A blessing

Thanks for walking out after I disclosed my clinical depression diagnosis. I hid it well for years until I just couldn't any more. You behave as though it's a contagious plague. I think you did me the favour of showing your true colours.

You're addicted to wallowing in your own self-pity and having a shrink give you a cop-out diagnosis of clinical depression so he can make some quick cash prescribing you addictive mind altering drugs. You shouldn't have the expectation that someone has to stick around just for you to drag them down into your self inflicted pit of despair. You need to snap yourself out of it and reject that spirit of negatively that's been sucking the life out of you. You'll just end up sucking the life out of anyone that chances getting close to you if you don't.
Don't let anyone

Lots of stigma still exists around the subject of depression. It’s strange because it’s so common so you’d think that by now people would be more aware and accepting. I think until we as a society demand more help and support from our medical system it’s not going to get better. The puny resources available compared to the need for them is overwhelming. People are suffering, and the majority of them aren’t getting even a tiny amount of support from therapy because it’s so expensive. So they throw medication at them and then you’re on your own. Telling someone to “get help” is a joke when there’s no help to be had. I think we need to show up for people who are experiencing depression. Be a friend and let them know that you care and will listen. Sometimes that can make a real difference to someone going through a hard time. And remember that just because you don’t have the problem yourself doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist for someone else.
There’s someone for you
