Is it time to shit a brick?

Banks are collapsing and inflation is ongoing. By putting money into the system to bail out banks, it adds to inflation. Further, AI is just about to start replacing jobs-- even high paying tech jobs. Real estate is out of reach for me to place my money safely into. It seems like the only people who are safe are people who paid off their mortgages. Meanwhile, we're increasing immigration to levels that our Canadian housing system cannot handle. Am I the only one seeing this as a bad situation?

Capitalism requires endless expansion at a rapid rate, or it crashes. It has to always commodify and consume more and more in order to maintain itself. Which is why it commodifies concepts and spaces, then looks for ways to re-commodify those concepts and spaces in more aspects than before to generate more profit.

It looks for more markets to conquer and results in imperialism. In fact, one could argue that capitalism requires never-ending imperialism for its never-ending growth. When that fails, the imperialism turns inwards and manifests in fascist tendencies, and here we are. You don't need to be Karl Marx or Friedrich Engels to see this isn't working for humanity anymore, just look around.

Yes I paid off my mortgage and yes, we feel safe and feel like we dodged a nuclear blast. There is no way in hell I could or would want to buy a $700K 1 bedroom condo.
Yes I have noticed a sea change in my industry. It is so bad that AI is changing things that a seminar discussing this is coming up.
Yes my sibling who has worked 40 years is planning on moving back home and has nothing to show for decades of labour.
The system is designed to extract everything of value from you.

Such a typical reaction to any comment suggesting that uncontrolled immigration to a country experiencing a massive housing and medical shortage isn’t wise. The Op is right. Lots of us feel the same way. Immigration makes sense if there’s already enough medical care and housing for the people who are already here. Inviting the world in when we have thousands of people living on the streets is just stupid. It’s long past time for our elected officials to put the needs of the citizens first, before opening the doors to everyone else.

@Question: Immigration isn't uncontrolled so not sure where that nonsense is coming from except perhaps from extremist right winger hate talking points. Immigrants are needed and should be valued in any country. The OP sounds racist and myopic and so do you. NIMBYism at it's worst. Shame on you.

I’m anything but right wing. I’m just not an idiot and I pay attention to the harsh realities of what’s going on all around me. Citizens right here are dying. There are thousands of people who can’t get medical care in a country that’s supposedly known around the world for our fantastic healthcare system. There are thousands of people living in poverty and relying on food banks to eat because they’re paying the majority of their paycheques on rent, if they can even find a place at all. Others are living and dying on the streets. Crime is out of control and our legal system seems to have completely given up. So until we get a handle on all of this we’ve got no business welcoming the rest of the world, and all of your finger pointing and juvenile name calling isn’t going to change my mind. I’ve lived here for my whole long life and have experienced enough of it to see where things are headed, and it’s not an inviting future from my perspective.

Question

People seeking asylum in our country are fleeing unbelievable conditions in their home countries and most if not all really don't want to flee. We all need to address the problems and help these countries keep their people where they want to be...in their own homes. If a cartel is running around shooting everybody and kidnapping your kids to work for them what the hell are you going to do? Let your children become enslaved? What about war and ethnic cleansing? If your entire island is devastated from a major weather event without any real rebuilding of the infrastructure or homes no wonder the population migrates elsewhere. Immigration numbers for landed immigrants or those looking for work permits are limited and it's not a free for all. Building walls doesn't work. The people smugglers are making a fortune and that's where you end up driving these people who have no choice but to try to find a better life.

@@@Question
Yes, there are many problems we are experiencing in this country but take a look around - these are global problems. To base the argument on information that is incorrect doesn't help the discussion and to use it to argue that we must 'protect' our country, our lifestyle is somewhat disingenuous. That's my point.
