If you were offered a house in a small town in Canada on the condition that you must leave Vancouver - where would you move to and why?

Free house in small town Canada... that's tough because I find Vancouver provincial and frustrating, but I think Parksville on the island, simply because that's as good as it gets in Canada, much like how Vancouver is as good as it gets in Canada. If I had to choose a small town, it would be Parksville.

I was just looking at Revelstoke on Google Earth it looks like it would be a nice place to live. Close to the Rockies should be well above sea level so no worry about tsunamis. Looks like the Columbia River goes by there so maybe there's some good fishing to be had.

a resort town, so expensive. Just like all the other resort towns in BC. The whole damn province is a resort. I would like to move to a place that doesn't have a boil water order or is in danger of being consumed by flames but it seems you can't get there from here.

Anywhere really as long as it was close to a small town. Somewhere quiet where people care about each other. Near a lake or nice river, clean fresh air and trees and animals. I'm still looking for my next destination. Where would you go since you asked the question originally?

I'd be tempted to go back to my hometown. Befriend or put to rest skeletons in closets, watch forest fires on the cusp of mountain lines like an eclipse. Lament the loss of good things, and help build what I loved here into where I land. Or migrate to ceded lands. North. Yet if things change on the ruling for MAID I'd prefer to submit myself to another adventure, be recycled, and maybe my tissue and organs can be sold to help settle country debts. Be on the first wave of death tourism.

Gorgeous old style town centre with original brick buildings, canals and little bridges (shop by boat), freshwater lakes everywhere, fishing, older cottages still standing, antiques...
