I was dumbfounded. My housing worker at the shelter where I currently reside actually said to me "we don't want people to be too comfortable here because this is a temporary shelter and we don't want you to get so comfortable that you will not find your own place ".
I couldn't believe the words coming out of her mouth !
Well let me tell you, you are accomplishing that 100 percent !

Go and work 2 or 3 jobs, save money and get your own place... instead of whining on here that gov't funded housing isn't good enough for you.

I think she was just telling you how it really is. Sorry but the reality is that life isn’t easy for lots of us, and sometimes we just have to do the really hard things in order to survive. So if you were provided with everything you need and want without having to earn it, you’d have no incentive to earn it, would you? So the idea of a shelter is just that; a temporary place to sleep inside. It’s not intended to replace an actual home. I’m sorry that you have to use one, and I hope that you can access the services that will help you find work and a better place to live.
