Barbarians Inside the Gate

I don't like being run into or squished or sat on or stepped on. I prefer to navigate through space safely and efficiently, as I hope all citizens do. But, not being aware and respectful of other people in public space seems to be a trending phenomenon. Have we become a society of rude people? Do we need etiquette police? I just don't understand this.

until we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate. It oppresses." ---- Carl Jung ..... Suggest good-hearted peoples net search a bit about Carl Jung. He and Sigmund Freud started out as young psychiatrist shrink partners but Jung parted company with Freud over issues such as Freud's over emphasis on sexual incest etc. Jung then traveled to N. India and absorbed much of the ancient Buddhist wisdom. Freud went on to become the so-called 'Father of modern psychology.' The classic movie 'One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest' (staring Jack Nicholson & Danny DeVito) puts cuckoo Freudianism into very obvious perspective

Yes, we have become a society of rude people. It’s everywhere. I have lot of theories about the cause of it which I won’t get into, but I agree that it’s out of control and extremely annoying.

but I suspect the internet has contributed to it. I think the Georgia Straight (or maybe Common Ground) even had an article on it some years back. I think it was titled ‘Is the internet making us ruder?’ or something like that. We know it’s contributed to shorter attention spans, so it contributing to ruder behaviour doesn’t seem like a stretch.

Nothing new about rude people. It's the opposite of a fad.
