The left is not an entity so much as it is a blanket term for any person or group that have progressive or liberal views as opposed to conservatives or regressive views. The typical person on “the left” wants to have positive change in how society functions rather than trying to preserve the status quo that currently exist. Put very simply and generally, they want things to improve.

How do you know we're amidst a Renaissance? In the 15th and 16th century, those who held power did their best to snuff out those who fought for change. Sound familiar?

We're seeing what’s really behind society’s ills, rather than believing the mainstream or whitewashed narrative. Of course there are fanatics, there are always fanatics, but the majority of progressive liberals are trying to achieve their goals through positive means such as activism and education.

The world is going to change with or without you, look at any history book, and you will see things have always gotten better, with periodical setbacks like a world war, then progress resumed. The greatest hurdle to come is climate change, that will even more destructive than any world war, so if you’re genuinely concerned about the human race you might want to take the focus off the so-called left and become environmentally conscientious. Get political, our futures depend on it.
