Just one night, PLEASE

I haven’t been able to sleep undisturbed for an entire night in so long I can’t remember. Every single night I’m woken up multiple times by the noisy people in my building or by some random person outside of it. It’s really hard for me to go back to sleep when I’m woken up at certain stages of the sleep cycle, so I’m left laying awake for hours sometimes. People are so inconsiderate! Dragging furniture around at 2 am, slamming doors, sitting outside the building in a car with the music pounding, you name it. I’m so tired.

There's a housing crisis happening pretty much coast to coast in this country. That means folks are crammed into high-density areas, myself included. I grew up with a shift worker dad and infant younger siblings. I learned to be quiet and considerate from a young age. If I wanted a career as a cat burglar, I would excel at that profession. But unfortunately, consideration is becoming more of an exception than a rule. You have to take matters into your own hands. I highly recommend earplugs, especially ones designed for sensitive or small ears. They're very comfortable and ensure you will be able to sleep. To keep yourself calm and unbothered during waking hours, consider noise cancelling headphones or white noise machines. Also meditation is a great exercise for everyone's better mental health. Give it a try.

Earplugs

While it’s not the solution to the noise around you, it will aid you in sleeping and staying asleep. Get the heavy duty one that block out the most decibels. I’ve lost hours and days of sleep so totally understand where you’re coming from. Like neighbours stomping in heels at 1am, doors slamming repeatedly, sirens, drink people yelling at night. I could go on and on. I dream of leaving the window open, feeling safe enough to do so, wake up to the sound of birds or ocean waves or wind through the trees. Human noises and all the associated things with it(cars, planes, nightclub music, construction) is the bane of my existence. Try earplugs, it’ll be less than $10 for a high quality pack.

CBD helps

I am an incredibly light sleeper. A few drops of CBD oil before bedtime helps me get through the night. It won't help if the noises are extreme but certainly assists through traffic noise and perhaps your neighbours. Good luck!

But yourself a tower fan. They come with several settings and you turn it on to drown out the noise.

I live in a nightmare world of noise and it works like a charm.

Mine helped me a lot with drowning out late-night yelling in the alley.
