Another dating "confession"

People here in Vancouver take things too seriously, trying to dress to impress or save the world, going after the almighty dollar to gain status, use social media for approval from others, get offended easily at stupid stuff like words that aren't used perfectly in people's particular picky world, we are moralistic, get triggered over Bud Light advertising etc (just using that as a example) we are always looking for the perfect person to fit our world for approval, I know I'm rambling on but perhaps people should try for long distance dating...for for someone in Tulsa Oklahoma or Baltimore Maryland or Lyons France or Rio de Janeiro Brazil or Grande Prairie Alberta lol

Or you can leave Vancouver and move where people actually enjoy their lives. I was a pretty typical Vancouverite before I went traveling, I was a health obsessed activist that was largely smug and unhappy, then I visited Latin America and Europe and realized life was passing me by. A person can be a contentious humanist while enjoying life, it's easy, just live your politics instead of being some pompous, self-righteous dickhead.

Parts of Europe are great, sure it has its own share of problems, but they've largely chosen to live their lives. They've managed to remain politically engaged without being fanatics, I know because one night I found myself in a bar in Paris after one of their weekly political rallies, and everyone was having a pretty good time. No Fun Vancouver struggles with having a good time.

I’m not sure that long distance dating is the answer, but I agree that there’s a lot of posturing and virtue signalling going on in Vancouver. However I think you’re forgetting that a huge proportion of the population here are imports from other parts of Canada and the world, so I don’t think it’s the location of the city as much as it is the people who came here looking for exactly what you’re describing. I was born here many moons ago and believe me it didn’t used to be like this at all.
