Disco Inferno

I’m trying. Connecting and building community isn’t easy. Finding the people who feel a certain way and resonate. It takes time. But I just want to feel like home. Like Cheers. Where everyone knows you at a level no one else gets to. It’s expensive in more ways than one. Presently, I learn through suffering.

lived in extended families and villages. We didn't speak to each other through electric devices but we sat around the village fireplace. Now days we are increasingly divided and isolated. This present World mess don't look like its going to get better before it gets worse. Oh well, somehow I feel life goes on and on and everything is good in the big picture.

Start with one person, maybe two. Expecting resonance from a whole community is illusory, even for those that appear to carry it off successfully. The hidden resentments surface in time.

It’s a great idea: a group of people always there for you, accepting and welcoming you, their quirks and your quirks mixing smoothly, as fictionally portrayed on Cheers. Cheers is the fantasy gold standard for this place “where everybody know your name”. After living in Vancouver for decades, 1) it kind of small-exists where you have to pay money. I can get that vibe where everyone says Hi and knows me if I’m spending lots of money regularly at their establishment. 2) it doesn’t really exist outside of this. I’ve joined groups, on weekends and also at work, and there’s always peers blocking you out of jealousy, envy, or feeling threatened. They actually DON’T want people to “know your name”. People are constantly jockeying for position here and aside from a few people from grade school, I don’t find friends or acquaintances really giving two hoots about my life as they are dealing with theirs. So it might be the paid version where you can experience that vibe you seek.

This isn' t the easiest city tonbuild comminity. It really can be difficult i leep trying to meet people.and follow through with plans. Sometimes it backfires spectacularly. Like yesterday for me but i carry on bei g me. Your vibe attracts your tribe. .
