This might sound morbid

But I was watching nature YouTube videos. Nature is ruthless and unforgiving. It makes me wonder why people think vegetarianism makes a difference. Animals have horrible deaths. Almost all of them are eaten alive. Meat processing plants are a cake-walk compared to being swallowed whole and having your bones crushed. Can't vegetarians just sort of wake up?

Some notes about being vegan:

Yes animals eat other animals, yes nature is cruel but nature doesn't have a conscience, people do. We are evolved enough to recognize what cruelty is.

Factory farms are not natural. Animals in factory farms are born in pain, live horrible lives, then are killed in cruel ways, en-mass. Some animals, like chickens are bred to grow and fatten up as fast as possible leading to painful debilitating health problems before they are slaughtered.

Factory farm cruelty does not just apply to animals. The people who work there often suffer as well. The majority of factory farm employees are immigrant workers who are overworked, underpaid, often ending up with severe repetitive motion injuries. Some, who work on the killing floor have to deal with PTSD mental health problems from having to slaughter terrified animals every day.

We could go back to the days of small holdings on private farms where our food at least gets to roam free before it ends up on the dinner plate but that would make meat much more expensive and because people want cheap protein, in large quantities and corporations want to make big profits for their share holders, we get the cruel system we have now.

why some non-vegetarians get so riled up and judgmental about vegetarians. What's it to you? Just keep it moving, op. Live your life according to your values and let others do the same. Welcome to democracy.

So because nature is cruel, we have to be cruel?

There are a number of things that make us human and separate us from animals. One is our ability to self-analysis and engage in mental time travel. We can also imagine different scenarios and reason abstractly. Additionally, we have established cultures with rules and moral codes. Finally, our brain functions allow us to learn rapidly and make decisions based on more than just survival instincts.

B.S. - Meat raising factories, the slaughter houses and processing is more than a horror show for just the animals. Its also a horror show for the consumers because the meats are very toxic.

and separate us from animals. Yes that's so, but we need also know that we live in an 'electric Universe' all life is linked. The science of Quantum Physics is now able to prove it. You can check it by net searching 'Double Slit Experiments.'

I finally ordered some meats from a local company that deals in smaller lots of organic, ethically slaughtered animals. I appreciate vegans for their stance but if you're going to be a meat eater, then do it right. Yes, it's somewhat more expensive than factory food but you don't need to eat as much of it as it is more nutritious and the animal didn't suffer for it PLUS you're supporting a local farming family.
