Boomers had it so easy

Boomers had it so easy We were born in the shadows of the Great Depression and the Second World War, the profound and terrible adversities faced by our fathers and mothers, the hard lessons they never forgot, and never let us forget. We lived before the age of abundance, before the credit revolution that enabled undeferred gratification in all things. We lived through the inquisition of McCarthyism, the Korean War and the War in Vietnam. We lived through the Age of Conformity. We lived through the recession of the 1950s, as deep as the Great Depression, although not nearly as long. We lived through enforced conscription and military service. We lived through Polio Epidemics before the Salk vaccine. We lived through the Cuban Missile Crisis that seemed about to annihilate all human life on earth. We lived through the assassinations of political leaders and civil rights leaders. We lived through the tragedy and the triumph of the Civil Rights Movement. We lived through a time when sexual diversity was a criminal offence. We lived through a time when a woman could not get a mortgage. We lived through a time when mortgage interest rates were as high as 20%. And where we were able to, we changed those things, mostly for the better. It didn't seem like it was so easy.

The lazy Milleniall/Gen Z blame Boomers for all their problems, when they literally invented, designed, built, and developed EVERYTHING we have today.

But I remember in school every year from Kindergarten to Grade 10, having nuclear attack drills every couple months - where if we saw a huge flash in the sky to get under our desks and cover our heads.

Or out of school to hide behind something big, or a tree, go into a ditch, etc

Boomers were and remain both entitled and greedy. Thanks to them the young of today can't afford to live decent lives.

If a generation is worth their salt they will make the world a better place for the next generation. Trouble is human greed seems to screw things up for everyone.

Not sure the Silent Generation had it any easier either, or the Lost Generation. The higher the interested demographic the more engagement you'll find. Its a list of negatives, what more can you expect?

You forgot to mention that you also lived in a time where your wages could afford you a house, a car and a college fund for your kids who are now all in debt, unable to afford a home and basically all broken by the hopelessness of never being able to get ahead thanks to boomers greed and entitlement. GOOD JOB!

And yet as the Boomer generation dies out it will be the greatest wealth transfer via inheritance in all of history- ever.
Care to transfer your inheritance to some charities?
