Environmentalists in a board room meeting

All there to make money. It's sort of strange that we call them environmentalists. They clearly flew overseas to be there. There's a lot of social status given to these people..... Why do they always seem to hijack environmentalism and run it amuck? It's a bit like when Mr. Burns becomes an environmentalist with the Little Lisa processing plant that incidentally harvests all ocean life to create a generic ooze that is used in lots of industry. He recycled the 6-pack can containers holding together the net catching the sealife. That made it "environmentalism".

Indigenous-led is the way forward.

I think we need to look to the original and ongoing stewards of the land for environmental solutions that stem from knowledge and integrity.

It’s going to take a full paradigm shift away from white supremacy, colonialism, and capitalism to ensure Mother Earth and humans can coexist beyond the next century.

These people are now nowhere near remotely close to being “environmentalist”. Just a bunch of hypocrites.

Well seeing as they wiped out much of the last remains of the post ice age N. American animals - giant sloths, dire wolves, bears, giant beavers, etc and constantly battled with each other- I'd say you're wrong.
The only time they had peace with each other is after the Europeans- like it or not that's the facts.

I think there might still be some indigenous tribes who genuinely practice the old ways, but if you look around you now it would be hard to find them. I can’t say that I blame them for using their land to make tons of money, but they can’t do that and still claim to be stewards of the land like the old ways taught. Not even close.

Binary Thinking is the Problem

Mar 20, 2024 at 11:22am

@ Indigenous It's not like there are only two choices. It's disingenuous - and disindigenous - to say that the only option to not adopting indigenous ways is white supremacy. Isn't the point of reconciliation to bring people TOGETHER, you know, somewhere in the reasonable middle ground? Your argument causes Trudeau-ian divisive thinking. Don't be brainwashed.

How many environmentalists does it take to roll out a stadium full of astroturf?

I don't believe in middle grounds or binary thinking. I believe in seeing gilded cages for what they are.

I'm saying we need a full paradigm shift free of the constraints imposed by colonial, capitalist interests in order to create solutions that will sustain human life on this planet.

And I am saying that we should look to Indigenous worldviews—which embrace the responsibility to consider seven generations into the past and seven generations into the future—to initiate that solutions-focused, life-affirming shift.
