Proud

One of the most interesting parts of being a parent is watching your children grow. This doesn’t change as they become adults and parents themselves either. I love watching the way they mature and learn and change. It’s also taught me to be more forgiving of myself as I watch them make some of the same mistakes that I did when I was younger. Now I understand that I was just fumbling along trying to do my best just like everyone else. I’m so proud of the humans I made because each one of them are truly kind and thoughtful people, and to me that’s what really matters in life. How we treat others is how we will be remembered. I hope they will remember me fondly.

We need healthy humans who do their best to create as small a carbon footprint as possible so it’s important to raise children with those values (reduce, reuse, recycle, etc) and having as few children as possible is a significant way to lower our carbon footprint. I’m proud of not having any.

Its a common saying that:

Our children are our greatest treasures and that we would not trade a child for all the money in the World. Its also said: if the life of my child was threatened I wouldn't think twice about stepping in front of a flying bullet. Now if only we could expand that thinking into the realization that all the children of the World are our children. That would be the end of war!

"For every bird there is a stone thrown at a bird.
For every loved child, a child broken, bagged,
sunk in a lake." -- "Good Bones" by Maggie Smith.
