All My Relations .... re: Toppling Statues

is an issue these days ie. the controversy of the John A. MacDonald statue. I sympathize with those who are suffering the intergenerational traumas of colonization. I am one myself. However, the 'me versus them' mentality most often only makes things worse. How about we leave the statues where they are and put up our own statues in the same location with a plaque explaining what really historically happened and our prayers for a better future. Trauma

One side of my family ancestors was almost wiped out by the Russians in Poland. The other half was almost wiped out by the Nazis.
I don't feel any trauma nor demand money from the German nor Russian governments for it.

How about everyone first topple the statue of ignorance between our own shoulder blades. As MLK said: "Hate is to great a burden to bare. I've decided to stick with love. Hate will never conquer hate. Only love will conquer hate."

Down-voters on this @Toppling Statues topic

Please explain your objections to the OP's statement. The reason I ask is because the hatred, polarizations and wars that are escalating on Planet Earth are so perilous. Sadly, more than ever with the proliferation of nuclear & fission bombs, climate crisis and the rise of fascism.. Perhaps if we can find common ground on this 'Statues toppling' issue we could help start a 'Butterfly Effect' that will help many.

We can’t change or erase history, but what we can do is expose the truth. The history we’re taught is ALWAYS from the perspective of whoever is in charge. Just ask women, whose contributions to humanity have been largely ignored so that many people believe they didn’t exist. Many inventions that were supposedly invented by a famous man were actually invented by women and were stolen by those men we were taught to revere. As information comes to light about the truth, I love your suggestion to leave those monuments in place, but erect a plaque with the truth carved upon it so that future generations may learn to question what the “history” really is.

Yes its time to quit limiting our view to retro 'history.' We need 'herstory.'

There's maybe 20-30 inventions like you state, out of the tens of thousands.
Yay.

This is the first good idea I've seen from this poster. Excellent suggestion.
