I am very embarrassed here

I am very embarrassed here. Although men are nice here I very rarely get asked out if ever.Anywhere else in the world - no problem. It is humiliating for me. (No advice needed. Thx)

No advice. I'm sad that you are humiliated and embarrassed. Those are harsh words to have about yourself.

I feel for you. I've noticed it too- I get asked out a lot everywhere else but Vancouver. My female friends who've moved here from other cities have noticed this as well and said it's not like that in other cities. I know you said "no advice" but you must know: it's not you, and you're not alone!

You don't need to be asked out to validate yourself as a person. You could enjoy the solace instead and take some time for yourself.

I heard that we live in the 21st century and that it's acceptable for a girl to ask a guy out nowadays. Maybe I'm just delusional. Whatever.

I find it hard even getting eye contact here; never mind flirting or being asked out. It's pretty sad - people just don't engage.

They don't want me either

@ sigh The 21st Century has nothing to do with the social handicap and ineptitude of people. In this case, men.

The no eye contact here is partially what turned me off. I came from a smaller town where women would smile and compliment me frequently. In turn, I would do the same. When I moved here, half the women in the street will actually turn their head in the opposite direction when I walk by. Unfortunately, I don't even bother trying to be interested anymore. It is sad because I am one of the rare guys in this town looking for love and a long term relationship. Hook ups are a turn off for me. Its been said before, but this town is cold.

All these people complain about Vancouver but I suspect they should look at themselves. As a Asian Canadian girl, I get asked how quite a lot from guys of all backgrounds. I find Vancouver to be a great city for dating.
