The Truth

I screw up pancakes. Gonna try again for breakfast. I'll hit a home run one of these times.

Craigslist Jerks

I've been having a tough time the past few months, like many other people. I recently mustered enough energy to do some organizing in my apartment. Rather than throw stuff in the dumpster, which would have involved very little time and energy, I opted to take pictures of various items and post them on Craigslist. One of those items was an old painting that used to mean a lot to me. It kind of hurts to look at, so I had to get rid of it; too many memories. I posted it on Craigslist under 'free stuff' and received an email from someone within a day. I spent a lot of back and forth time with this person to organize pick-up. On the scheduled day, I waited and waited around for hours. I emailed again to say "Where are you?" Her response was so casual: "Oh, I lost track of time. Can I come in 45 minutes?" Are you f***ing kidding me? Have some respect. Learn some manners. That painting is now in the dumpster; you don't deserve it. Craigslist people are the goddamn worst.

Harvest

Back in April i bought some seeds, compost and scavenged a few plants from neighbours. Tonight I ate my home grown zucchini with pesto and cheese. It was sensationally yummy . I’m a gardener now and always.

No Envy Now

As a single person living alone, I resented parents for having people around them during confinement. Now I no longer envy the choices they are confronted with about sending kids to a school in this climate or the other options. Most adults can't wear a mask all day or remember to socially distance so how can we expect kids to? It also strongly depends on what values the other parents have taught the kids. In the US, it's a fact that a percentage of children will actually DIE when schools re-open. I think kids are germ-mongers to begin with and shouldn't be allowed to mingle now (as much as they need to socially) but wouldn't want to be faced with that choice or consequence.

Is it?

I'm always surprised when people are surprised that politicians are corrupt. How are these 'scandals' news? It's no surprise that you have to step on people to get to the top of the pile.

Heeled

I haven’t worn heels since March. It’s fucking awesome! Don’t think I’m going to need them anytime soon (no concerts, no dinners out, no office presence, no clubbing) and donated them. Free at last :)

Are we doomed?

As much as I am annoyed with the baby boomers, as we cannot afford property or get livable wages, I suspect that once they leave this rock, our democracy will become entirely eroded. I honestly do not think the next generation takes democracy seriously. They're trying to enact communism instead of targeting the corporations and corporate lobbyists who have invaded our political and legal realms. I am definitely getting ready to leave Canada before it gets to that level. A lot changes in 20-30 years. I doubt that property prices will be good after millenials get what they want finally.

Stanley park attractions

I'm a senior , age 70, who doesn't live within walking distance of S park. For about 60 years, I've enjoyed cooling off in the water at 3rd beach but I can't get there now as the road is closed. What's the point of opening up a lane for vehicle traffic if the parking lots are all closed so that you can't actually stop to do anything?

Cat people

Are people who act like cats. You go in for a friendly pet, and they retreat, reticent and aloof. But when you act that way yourself, they come angling back, tentatively sniffing around and looking for affection. I’m going to act a cat too and meet them on their terms.

I don’t understand

Why When I was walking my toy dog on leash And warned you I was afraid of your off leash pit bull with non friendly energy You would call me a fat old cow

I SAW YOU

Wish I asked you out! @Cambie JJ bean
