Christmas at Hycroft spreads holiday cheer with prize package giveaway
(This story is sponsored by The University Women’s Club of Vancouver.)
The most cheerful holiday season is just around the corner.
This year, instead of battling overcrowded malls, take a joyful stroll through the elaborately decorated event that is Christmas at Hycroft —Vancouver’s longest-running Christmas market.
The market, nearing its 47th year, is the perfect place to purchase unique, thoughtful, or personalized gifts, for everybody on Santa’s “nice” list. Spoiling oneself a little around the holidays is strongly encouraged and is made easy by the market’s pop-up shops.
More than two-dozen talented local artisans will be selling items like handcrafted jewellery, blown-glass tree ornaments, decorative art pieces, gourmet seasonings, and fine foods, within the historic manor’s Edwardian-style rooms
The event takes place from November 14 to 17 and will also feature festive live-music performances by carolers and jazz bands.
Jolly old St. Nick will be visiting Hycroft Manor (1489 McRae Avenue)—on the Thursday and Friday between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. and on Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.—for children and adults who want to present their Christmas wishes in person. There will also be a silent auction with items donated by Holt Renfrew, Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, Arts Club Theatre, and Best Western Chateau Granville, among others.
After working up an appetite by admiring artisanal soaps and handmade blanket scarves, guests can visit the Hycroft Bistro for freshly baked cookies or other delicious snacks. Holiday beverages like perfectly spiced mulled wine and hot chocolate will be served, as well.
For gift givers who have yet to master the art of wrapping Christmas presents, volunteers will be available to help, by donation, at the wrapping station.
With its wide range of festivities and vendors, and with Christmas spirit in the air, the market makes the perfect place for a family outing, an afternoon with friends, or even a first date.
To skip the line by purchasing advance tickets, visit Eventbrite. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the event. For more information or updates, follow Christmas at Hycroft on Facebook and Instagram. Enter below to win a Christmas at Hycroft prize package valued at $25.
