While we don’t need any encouragement to drink beer at this time of year, Hoyne Brewing has just gone and made our sunshine sipping that little bit sweeter. For every bottle of Summer Haze Honey Wheat purchased during the month of June, the brewery is donating $0.50 to Atira Women’s Resource Society.
Atira is dedicated to supporting women and children affected by violence, by offering safe housing as well as education and advocacy.
In 2014, the society partnered with Hives for Humanity, which has allowed Atira to establish urban bee colonies at some of its locations. The program lets women at the shelter engage with the therapeutic culture that surrounds the hive, while caring for the community and the bees.
Atira’s vision is for a world free of inequalities, where everyone’s human rights are respected and where women and girls have the right to participate fully and effectively in all of the decisions that affect their lives. And to that, we say cheers!
So this year, Hoyne Brewing hopes to help raise $10,000 to go toward Atira’s cause. And it’s only appropriate that the brewery chose the Summer Haze Honey Wheat as the queen beer. If you haven’t tried it already, this brew is the perfect mild, crisp, light beer that you can enjoy on the beach and all through patio season.
The Victoria-based brewery, founded by expert brewmaster Sean Hoyne, placed in the Straight’s recent Golden Plates Awards for the Best B.C. Beer Brewed Outside Vancouver—so giving back has never been this easy.
All you have to do is buy the Summer Haze at any—or all—of the participating private retail liquor stores, government liquor stores, or restaurants and pubs, which include Biercraft Cambie, Biercraft Commercial, Fitzsimmons Pub, Bandidas Taquiera, and Kingfisher Waterfront Pub & Grill.
And to further whet your appetite you can also enter to win one of five $100 gift cards, below.
