Holiday enthusiasts rejoice, for the CandyTown festival is back and will be taking over the streets of Yaletown for its eighth consecutive year.

Ice sculptures. Santa. Horse-drawn carriage rides. Holiday treats.

Could one ask for anything else? Nope.

On Saturday, November 30^th from 12 to 7 p.m., Mainland, Hamilton, and Davie streets will be transformed into a magical winter wonderland. Lamp poles lining the streets will be adorned in lights and candy canes, and other festive décor will be placed along the sidewalks.

Children are sure to enjoy the parade, as costumed characters will dance down the streets. Live music and street performers also provide cheerful guests with entertainment. Holiday shoppers are encouraged to get a head start on their shopping lists by visiting the local artisans at the event.

For those who have worked up an appetite from shopping and socializing with the gingerbread man mascot, there will be food trucks scattered throughout the festival. Other food merchants will be selling smaller treats and sweets as well.

No winter-themed event is complete without Santa, so he will be flying in from the North Pole to visit everybody who made the “nice” list.

CandyTown is the perfect place to spend time with family and friends, whether it be chatting over mugs of rich hot chocolate or shopping the many local vendors. For guests wanting a more mature experience, the all new Winter is Coming attraction will do the trick. With ice sculptures and a live swordplay demonstration, there are tons of marvellous photo opportunities.

Presented by the Yaletown Business Improvement Association (BIA), CandyTown is Vancouver’s only free winter festival. Don’t miss it, as it infuses the holiday spirit into everyone who takes part in the activities.

Be sure to bring the camera as there will be plenty of photo ops and arrive early to make time to take in all the fun.
