Summer might be almost over but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. In celebration of 130 years of horseracing in B.C., Hastings Racecourse is capping off the sunshine season with a number of awesome events, where visitors can expect great entertainment, giveaways, food trucks, and more.

On September 7, there will be a total of $450,000 of purse money of up for grabs at the 74th running of the B.C. Derby and the 56^th running of the B.C. Oaks—the richest stake races on the Hastings 2019 calendar. Racing starts at 12:50 p.m.

But even if you don’t win, those who have developed a taste for the racing life won’t want to miss out on Fan Appreciation Day on September 14. The first race starts at 1:50 p.m. but there will be plenty to keep guests entertained all afternoon long, including a live DJ, food and drink specials, pony rides, a family-fun zone, contest giveaways, and more. Better still, admission is free.

On September 28, the famed Oktoberfest Vancouver festival will be taking place at Hastings Racecourse, in what is sure to be a highlight of the season. Celebrate in style with traditional fare, exciting horse races (starting at 1:50 p.m.), live music, and of course, plenty of beer.
