Vancouver Gem & Mineral show featured guest of incredible artistry is German Kabirski. Kabirski was born in Kabir, a small Lezgi village in Caucasus region of southern Russia, now residing in Thailand as an artist who doesn’t play by the rules. Kabirski experiments with materials and forms a lot. He combines gems with everything, from silver, gold and wood to leather and reptile skeletons. The end result is quite far from traditional jewellery. Kabirski’s aesthetics exist outside of the common concepts of the beautiful and the ugly.
