Q’emcin 2 Rivers Remix is BC’s Contemporary Indigenous Music Feast, July 6-7 at ‘Q’emcin (AKA Lytton BC) on unceded Nlaka'pamux territory at the stunning confluence of the Fraser and Thompson River Canyons (10km from the Stein Valley Nlaka'pamux Heritage Park). The free outdoors 2-day feast includes 24 live performances from 12pm to 11pm in a wide variety of music genres, dance, drumming, and spoken word. Also on the festival site is an outdoor exhibit of collaborative Indigenous artworks, Indigenous Micro Film Festival and an Indigenous Artisans’ Street Market. ‘Q’emcin 2 Rivers Remix is a spectacular 3 hour trip from Vancouver or Kelowna.
This second annual 2 Rivers Remix Music Feast is featuring 4 Indigenous Juno winners:
DJ Shub (Mohawk), formerly of “A Tribe Called Red”, Quantum Tangle (Inuit/Anishinaabe/Métis) fusing a modern/traditional/Northern soundscape, George Leach (St’atimc) the guitar wizard, and Murray Porter (Mohawk), Turtle Island blues master.
Other highlights include: Old Soul Rebel – Fabulous female duo who were featured on CTV’s The Launch, JB the First Lady – her Hip-hop anthem “Still Here” was nominated on CBC Radio as one of the “greatest Vancouver songs of all time”, Willie Thrasher & Linda Saddleback – from the Grammy-nominated compilation Native North America Volume 1; Curtis Clearsky & the Constellationz –INDIGIFUNK cross-cultural fusion that won't let your feet stand still.
